An ending becomes a beginning

Today my class of 13 Discipleship Training School classmates and I graduated from our six months at YWAM Brisbane. It feels like forever ago, but also just like a blink of an eye since we all first met in October.

I can vividly remember getting out of the van from the airport and walking up towards the building where I'd be living. A group of girls came pouring down the hill from the building and we all greeted each other as strangers. Now we are like sisters.

But more than even the friendships, it's the lasting relationship we've each built with God that is the most exciting thing in each of our lives as we move forward into the next step of life.

Most people are going home. Some are returning to the YWAM Brisbane base in a few months to start a Basic Leadership School and to staff the following DTSs. I am simply staying in Australia.

I hope you were sitting down when you read that!

I really feel as though God wants me to stay at YWAM Brisbane to help with it's ministries. It's been a journey to realize that this is where I'm supposed to be for the next season of my life. I will stay and do hospitality services at the base (baking for morning tea, getting guest rooms for speakers ready, organizing welcome/farewell feasts, etc.) as well as keep the base website up-to-date.

Never would I have imagined that I'd work in a mission environment as my vocation. But that's seriously the bizarreness of life, and the conviction I know feel to keep plugging into the community here at YWAM Brisbane. The base is doing awesome things to train-up young people and to bless the Brisbane community.

I know God is wanted to grow more humility in me, and that's one of the reasons I feel called to hospitality. Not only that, but He's helping me to recognize the value in other God-given gifts like a caring heart, wanting others to be valued and my mothering heart.

So this is the next step.
I wouldn't necessarily say I'm uncertain, but I'm unaware of what this means. And that's okay.
