Today's trip to get food for the weekend involved heading to a food bank centre I've only been to once before. I do go to the regular grocery stores, but since my income is dependant on support from other people, it’s … well … low. So today I walked just under 30 minutes to the church that houses the daily food bank for some less expensive food, enjoying the sunshine and early sprouts of spring along the way.
At the food bank I picked out some free mini-potatoes, zucchini, and well-priced yogurt. Those were great finds I thought. I went to the cash register where the three volunteers had lots of questions for me. (Thank you Canadian (i.e. foreign) accent for opening doors to conversations.) Little by little I talked about what I’m doing here with YWAM, and for how long.
The next thing I knew, one of the volunteers offered to pay for all my food whenever I drop in. My purchases can go on a tab and he'll cover the cost! Seriously!?! And then the guy urged me to pick out even more food for today.
God is so good. I'd been wondering how I was going to continue paying for groceries for the next few years, and then wham, God showed me how He's got my needs under control. He is my provider.
