During my lunch break today, I enjoyed the sunshine while sitting at an Ottawa city park...although I never actually eat my lunch during my break. It's my perfect time for a stroll and sit.
But while I was sitting on the park bench, I noticed a small caterpillar creeping its way along the ground right by my feet.
Crawling forward. Little by little. Getting further and further along on its journey to...wherever.
Crawling forward. Little by little. Getting further and further along on its journey to...wherever.
And it got me thinking about how I feel about my life: I'm only ever inching forward toward my purpose, even though I want it all NOW.
But that's not how God has planned it, for any of us.
He wants us to be on a journey in which we take little steps, and knowing that He will make our paths straight as we go.
He wants us to be on a journey in which we take little steps, and knowing that He will make our paths straight as we go.
Not only that, but if this little caterpillar is determined to keep on going, so can I. Because Jesus tells us that our Heavenly Father cares for the sparrows, and the lilies of the fields, and surely He will care for us - his children - also.
God cares for me, and wants me to enjoy my journey to...wherever it is He's leading me.

What is the price of two sparrows - one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground with your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows. Matthew 10:29-31 (NLT)
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. Matthew 6:25-29 (NIV)
