Attack of the Magpie

Bet that got your attention!

Saturday morning I went for a jog in the neighbourhood where the YWAM base is located. I'm jogging along, listening to a Meeting House podcast when, BAM! A bird dive-bombs my head! Apparently the magpies are nesting at this time of year and are very territorial. Hilarious!

This week God's been a bit of a magpie in that He's been aggressively bringing certain things to my attention. Chiefly, that I need to seriously submit my life and time to Him.

I'd been waiting to find out what the "Ah ha!" moment would be during my DTS. And this week it happened.

During a teaching about spending time with God I started to cry, knowing that I haven't been SERIOUSLY spending time getting to know my creator, friend, lover, protector and provider. I've actually been pushing God further away, feeling like if He's at a safe distance I don't REALLY need to commit myself to what He wants from me for my life.

Well no more! I'm going to start going on dates with God, and figure out new ways to connect with Him and listen for his leading. My jog with the magpie incident was one of those new ways. I figure jogging, podcast listening and reflecting is a great way to spend time in nature and time with God. I think I might also start drawing or listening to music in a more focused manner.

I`m so excited about what God is doing in our relationship, and how He is already healing some of my past hurts and fears. And guess what? It`s only week one!
