I'm smart.
And I'm not ashamed to admit it, nor to humble apparently!
But I'm starting to realize that too much head and not enough heart doesn't cut it with God.
This week my DTS teachings are about Hearing God's Voice. Our speaker is Chris Twinn, a British-born Jewish man who became a Christian in his later teenage years. He's now pastor at a church in Brisbane and a phenomenal teacher.
Some of the challenges I'm facing in his teaching have a lot to do with my head.
I use it too much.
I like information but God isn't always interested in that. He wants to reach me - and the rest of humanity - through revelation. That means I've got to open up my spirit for what God is telling me.
Information is head knowledge that we use to understand visible principles. Revelation is an anointed understanding often of the things that are unseen. To really get God's plan, I have to be more open to His revelations through His word. I also need to get to know God better so that not only will I know what and how He is speaking to me, but also why he is telling me something.
The best part about God's word though is that it is 100% truth. God never lies. And His word created the world. His word created man and woman. His word became flesh in the form of Jesus. If God can do all that with His words, I'm floored to learn about how His words will bring meaning and guidance to my life.
