Scipture Notes

I lead a weekly Bible study for staff at the YWAM Brisbane base who are not connected to a current DTS. It's a good chance to grow in our knowledge of what God says about His heart, for us specifically and Christians in general.

Right now we're working our way through Romans using a Know Your Bible study guide. The commentary by the woman who put together this study really stuck out to me, so I thought I'd re-post some of it.

In reference to Romans 2:17-27
Christian believer, take note! The world is watching every move we make, and Jesus is judged by what His followers do. Let us make sure that His name is not brought into disrepute among nonbelievers because of our words and actions. Let us heed what James wrote: "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says," (James 1:22)
Later, she goes on to write about Romans 2:28-29
Again, Christian believer, take note. Our "Christian-ness" is not outward and physical. We must not fall into the trap of thinking that going to church, or being baptised, or sharing in the Lord's Supper, or speaking in tongues is enough to make us "Christian". Rather, our hearts must be circumcised by the regenerating power of God's Holy Spirit. Only then can we truly claim to be members of God's family.

****
To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honour and immortality, He will give eternal life.
Romans 2:7
